Chief Minister Shri Chouhan takes part in programme from Indore
Over one thousand houses will be built through modern technology under Light House Project
 

Bhopal : Friday, January 1, 2021

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today laid the foundation for light house projects under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India) at six locations in six states including Indore in Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing. Prime Minister Shri Modi also announced the winners under the Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators-India (ASHA-India) and also gave annual awards for the year 2019 for excellence in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) Mission. Madhya Pradesh was ranked second for remarkable work. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan received this award virtually by joining the programme organized in Indore.

January 1, 2021, the first day of the new year was a day full of achievements for the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, laid the foundation stone of a light house project costing Rs 128 crore in Indore through a virtual programme. On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh, Tourism Minister Sushri Usha Thakur, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Shri O.P.S. Bhadoria, MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, MLA Shri Tulsiram Silavat, Shri Akash Vijayvargiya and Shri Mahendra Hardia took part in the programme. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri also took part in the program virtually.

Addressing the programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi congratulated Madhya Pradesh on receiving the above award. He said that the use of new technology has been started in building houses for the homeless in the country. This will create quality housing in less cost and less time. Various innovations to use new technologies are being made. He informed that the Light House Project is also a part of this. He said that 54 innovative housing construction technologies have been identified for innovative housing construction. He said that for the first time in the country, such a large number of light house projects (LHPs) will be utilized in the construction sector which give a remarkable display of alternative global technology, materials and processes. These are being constructed under GHTC-India, which envisages creating a holistic environment for adoption of innovative technologies in the field of housing construction. These projects will be completed much faster than the conventional style of brick and concrete construction. Apart from this, these houses will also be economical and durable with high quality.

Prime Minister Shri Modi said that under this project, houses will be constructed through Prefabricated Sandwich Panel System at Indore, Monolithic Concrete Construction using Tunnel Formwork in LHP Rajkot, Precast Concrete Construction System, in the project of Chennai, 3D Volumetric Precast Concrete Construction System at LHP, Ranchi, Structural Steel Frame with light gauge steel infill panels in Agartala project and PVC Stay in Place Formwork System at LHP, Lucknow. The projects of light houses will serve as a live laboratory to facilitate transfer and simulation of technology at the respective sites. He said that these projects are very useful. He told the students of IITs, NITs, other engineering colleges and planning and architecture colleges to study these projects and give suggestions and make innovations to improve them and make them more useful. The technology, processes and materials used under the project will also help youth with creative minds, start-ups, innovators and entrepreneurs.

The scheme is a gift for the homeless – CM Shri Chouhan

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is being implemented effectively in Madhya Pradesh. The pledge taken by Prime Minister Shri Modi to provide concrete houses to all will be fulfilled by 2022 in the state. Housing constructions are being undertaken at a rapid pace in the state. This scheme is a gift to the homeless. He said that all basic facilities are being provided in the houses constructed under this scheme. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that so far more than seven lakh 24 thousand houses have been sanctioned in 378 bodies in the state. Construction of three lakh houses out of these has been completed. Construction of two lakh houses is in progress. More than one lakh houses have also been allocated. He informed that construction work is going on at a rapid pace. The houses will be allotted to the beneficiaries according to the target after completion within the stipulated time.

New Housing technology a revolutionary initiative

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that making new houses through light house project is a revolutionary initiative. The houses built under it will be disaster resistant, environment friendly and of good quality. They will also be ready in a short time. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that it is a matter of pride that the country’s cleanest city Indore has also been selected under the Light House Project. Under this project, more than one thousand houses based on new technology will be built in Indore at a cost of Rs 128 crore.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan congratulated the Chhindwara Municipal Corporation, Khurai Municipality for ranking second and fifth in the country. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India selected Smt. Anita Yadav of Dewas, Smt. Babita Bowade of Betul and Shri Rashid Kala of Alirajpur for the award. Photographs of the newly constructed houses of these beneficiaries were sent to the Government of India. These bodies were selected for outstanding work on the basis of prescribed criteria.
